Bedroom cupboard

We had a carpenter make and install a built in cupboard for our bedroom earlier this week. We still have to prime and paint it but this is a big step to completing the room.

We can finish the coving, beading & lining now, and then do the architraving around the doors and more!

Bedroom view

One of my favourite things about the house is the view from our bedroom. There have been some amazing sunrises in the mornings. You can't really see it in this one but there is a church in the distance and the Downs are visible on the horizon.

Excuse the soil pipe in this photo, you don't see it when you look out the window. I stuck the camera out and was trying to get the best colours.

Fireplace hearths

One of our woodburners was supposed to be installed this week but the rain prevented the guys from getting up on the roof so they were only able to lay the new hearths.

Trying to reschedule the install again and then will post more pics. Fingers crossed it doesnt rain again, or snow!

New stable back door

Last weekend we had a new stable door put in the kitchen. It's been installed to open outwards for space, easy access and security. We're hoping to get some good mileage out of it in summer when it's nice and warm to get a cool breeze through the house.

We've had a cat flap installed for the boys that works with their neck microchips but had to disable it as it doesnt work for one of them :(

The cats obsession with water

Pickles & Tumnus are obsessed with water and will even go outside in the pouring rain! They will only drinking running water too, as you can see from the above photo. They spend a lot of time in the nice, clean bathroom putting dirty paw prints everywhere!

Bathroom

The bathroom has been almost complete for a while now and we're really happy with how it turned out from the above picture. It's amazing what you can do with a lick of paint!

The last few things that need to be done are finding and attaching a loo roll holder, hand towel ring and bathroom towel rail and that will be it.

Lining the bedroom walls

Not posted anything for a while so thought I'd put some new pictures up.

The lining of the walls is pretty much done in our bedroom, thanks to Paul who's been showing me the ropes on how to wallpaper. We need to put up the new architraving around the doors in the room before we can finish it off though.

You can see we've also been trying some tester pots to decide on our room colours. Paul has also kindly painted the roof while we've been at work.

Lining ceiling for painting

Paul and I have started lining the bedroom ceiling with lining paper to get it ready for painting.

I imagine posts will be few and far between now as I'm back to work tomorrow (at Disney) so we'll only be able to work at nights or weekends.

New Rehau windows

We had some new windows installed today at the back of the house, both up and downstairs. They are Rehau vertical sliding sash windows, as we are trying to restore the house to it's original features as much as possible. They are PVC but look exactly like wooden sash windows.

We were supposed to have the front of the house done too but we recently found out we're in a conservation area and now need to get planning permission for those :(

Moving in

So we have finally moved in, woohoo! Last week Friday actually. There have been so many boxes and bags lying around that we've had to find places to put them in and out of the way.

We've had so many small things to go out and buy, wooden spoons, drying racks, toilet brushes, all things we took for granted at our rented flat.

We're both just glad to be in really, celebrated with champagne and a Chinese takeaway on Friday night :)
